What type of Lord Ganesha should be kept at home?
When you see Lord Ganesha, Lord’s trunk should be to your right. That is, the trunk should be turning towards the left side of Lord Ganesha. It is auspicious for homes as it attracts positive energy. This type of Ganesha is known as vamamukhi murtis. Here the lunar energy of Ganesha is active and is conducive to the physical and spiritual growth of human beings.
Another type of Ganesha is the dakshinamukhi murti. The solar energy flowing from Lord Ganesha’s right nostril is very powerful and ordinary human beings and householders cannot bear it. Ganesha’s solar energy is assimilated through regular pujas, rituals and observations, which are not usually possible in homes. Thus it is installed in temples.
Such results are possible only when the idol is carved or painted following the Shilpa Shastra. Modern idols and images do not have these effects; Nevertheless, follow this rule of thumb while choosing an image or idol of Lord Ganesha.
